DIRECTORY

At Pace Benicia, we strive to increase opportunities for social interactions and learning experiences for the individuals we serve, both at the day program and in the community. We work towards achieving these goals through the sharing of our many talents and with the support and participation of family and the Benicia community. We provide a diverse curriculum and work opportunities for our participants.

Our goal is to continue developing a variety of educational, recreational/social and work opportunities for the participants both in the community and here at the day program.  We expand our educational knowledge by providing a variety of classes including “Sign Language”, “Health and Wellness”, “Animal and Nature”, “Safety Awareness” and “Historical/Current Events”.  Individuals use ipads to assist in gathering information for our classes and developing their communication/social/recreational skills utilizing a variety of apps.  In addition, we look forward to visits from “Paws for Healing” several times a month, which gives us the opportunity to interact and socialize with “Luke” and his owner, Joyce.

We continue to offer a number of work experiences for our participants.  They have the opportunity to do a variety of jobs at community businesses including Round Table Pizza, the Village Plaza office complex, Adams and Adams office complex, and maintaining the staff room vending machine at Benicia High School. In addition, we offer a Job Club which provides a variety of job readiness skills and education.  This class is among the most popular at Pace Benicia.

In the areas of recreational/community activities, we attend a weekly Exercise and Sports class and a Music and Movement class provided by the City of Benicia Recreation Department at the Benicia City Gym. In addition, we have a Pace Benicia garden plot at the Benicia Community Garden. We have been successful in the bounty we have produced, which includes tomatoes, arugula, peppers, eggplant and a variety of fresh herbs including basil and parsley. The participants in our program enjoy tending to, as well as tasting, the fresh produce we grow in our garden plot.

We look forward to continuing with our current activities and developing new and exciting curriculum and community activities over the next year.

We encourage you to stop by for a visit! Please call (707) 747-1761 for more information or to schedule a tour.
